Honeydukes - 1:144 miniature room

Honeydukes miniature by TheArtsyRaven

I love Harry Potter, for the most part.

Things I enjoy are the characters, magic, shops, and most of the ideas added in the books. What I like less is plot holes and the ending, and let’s not even mention book eight which is pure fanfiction.

Something else I love is miniatures, so what better than to combine those two?

Not too long ago, can’t really remember when, I had an idea to create Honeydukes. Yes, I’ve seen others making the candy shop, but I wouldn’t let that stop me from trying it myself. The original idea was to make it 1:12 size, as it’s the most normal size out there, but the problem is that I don’t want to make something as big right now, so how did I solve that problem? Well, by making it a 1:144 size miniature room.

My “What to Craft” Decision Wheel

The "What to Craft" Wheel by TheArtsyRaven

I’m sitting by my desk, I’ve got some time before bed and I want to craft. I turn my head to the right, to the left, focusing on every location I know I have work in progress crafts. My heart wants to finish them all at once, but my head knows I can only do one at a time, so I wonder which to pick. I overthink, and then it’s suddenly bedtime and I haven’t even decided what to do.

Most nights it’s not as dramatic, but sadly this has happened more than I’d like to admit, which is why I decided I need to come up with a way to help me pick something to work on.

As always I’m drawn to lists, but the issue with a list is that it would most likely be on paper, and that can be misplaced. I also started thinking that a list might not be that helpful because my problem is with deciding, not remembering what I want to do or finish.

Yesterday I thought about a way to randomly pick a WIP project to work on. There are many sites on the internet that offers different ways to pick one thing, and I was mostly drawn to a spin prize wheel. While I’m all for going digital I’m not really interested in opening the random generator page I’ve decided to use every single time I can’t decide. Inspiration hit just then and I decided to make my own spin prize wheel.

Star Taker in a Bottle

Star Taker in a Bottle by TheArtsyRaven

This project was inspired by a craftalong I’m doing on craftster.org. I’m supposed to create: something round (or spherical), something that incorporates the metal brass, something you associate with Greece or your interpretation of "star taker".

Watermelon Picnic Table

Watermelon Picnic Table by TheArtsyRaven

When I bought my first home my in-laws offered to buy us a grill. Knowing I would most likely not use it that much I suggested a picnic table instead. While it might not have been used as much as I like it has still been used more than a grill would.

Mermaid and Fairy in a Bottle

Mermaid and Fairy in a Bottle by TheArtsyRaven

I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who buys something cool and have a great idea for how to use it, only to realise I’m afraid to try it because then I won’t have that cool thing any longer. I bought a set of 5 plastic domes about 6 years ago, and never used them because I feared ruining them if my plan didn’t work.

Knowing I can’t continue hoarding awesome craft supplies I decided to use at least one of them. Surprisingly enough I still remembered the original idea I had, a sleeping fairy, and so I decided to go for it.

Now that I finally have a job I can finally craft without feeling bad about wasting the time I should use to apply to jobs I didn’t mind spending lots of time on this.

2017 Gingerbread House - The Pastry Café

Gingerbread Bakery Dollhouse by TheArtsyRaven

Originally I hadn't planned to make any gingerbread creating this last Christmas, I had a lot of things to worry about, and ended up feeling pretty low. Of course as soon as I started I felt better, more relaxed.
Instead of doing an ordinary gingerbread house I decided to do something else, a bakery dollhouse.

I love dollhouses and I've wanted to make one, or twenty, in a long time. However I've not had the time to make a wooden dollhouse, so instead I made one out of gingerbread.

Warning, this post is picture heavy.
